Ganduje’s Son Looting Government Property For Campaign, NNPP Alleges

0

The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the House of Representatives (Dawakin Tofa, Rimingado and Tofa federal constituency), Abba Ganduje, of diverting government properties into his campaign.

The party chairman, Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, said in a statement that it had been discovered that the state government had diverted over 30 vehicles from the Kano Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) to the campaign activities of the APC candidate.

But reacting, KIRS said there was no truth in the statement by the NNPP, warning that they would take legal action to safeguard their hard-earned reputation.

A statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communication, KIRS, Alhaji Rabiu Saleh Rimingado, reaffirmed the statutory responsibility of the revenue service.

The NNPP alleged that the vehicles, emblazoned with Abba Ganduje’s image, were set to be distributed to the APC ward chairmen of Rimingado, Tofa and Dawakin Tofa Federal constituency to checkmate the incumbent, Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, who distributed about 20 cars to his party members recently.

The statement further revealed that the said vehicles had been assembled at the temporary campus of Northwest University, Kano, awaiting distribution to supporters of Abba Ganduje.

The opposition party also faulted the deposition of the vehicles at a government institution (Yusuf Maitama Sule University’s city campus) as a violation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines for political campaigns.

“We, therefore, request the anti-graft agencies such as EFFC, ICPC and INEC to investigate mismanagement of state resources, conflict of interest and violations of election guidelines,” the NNPP said.

Meanwhile, Abba Ganduje could not be reached for comment as of the time of filing this report.

These priority areas were contained in the 80-page policy document, which was released on Thursday.

Other areas included on his priority lists of action plans are; economy, agriculture, power, oil and gas, transportation and education.

In the manifesto obtained by our correspondent on Friday, Tinubu noted that his objective is to restore a renewed hope for Nigeria based on shared prosperity, tolerance, compassion, and the unwavering commitment to treating each citizen with equal respect and due regard.

The 10 promises of the APC presidential candidate as contained in the manifesto are listed below.

1. Build a Nigeria, especially for our youth, where sufficient jobs with decent wages create a better life.

2. Manufacture, create, and invent more of the goods and services we require. Nigeria shall be known as a nation of creators, not just of consumers.

3. Export more and import less, strengthening both the naira and our way of life.

4. Continue assisting our ever-toiling farmers, through enlightened agricultural policy that promotes productivity and assures decent incomes, so that farmers can support their families and feed the nation.

5. Modernise and expand public infrastructure so that the rest of the economy can grow at an optimal rate.

6. Embolden and support our young people and women by harnessing emerging sectors such as the digital economy, entertainment and culture, tourism and others to build the Nigeria of tomorrow, today.

7. Train and give economic opportunity to the poorest and most vulnerable among us. We seek a Nigeria where no parent is compelled to send a child to bed hungry, worried whether tomorrow shall bring food.

8. Generate, transmit and distribute sufficient, affordable electricity to give our people the requisite power to enlighten their lives, their homes, and their very dreams.

9. Make basic healthcare, education, and housing accessible and affordable for all.

10. And, most importantly, establish a bold and assertive policy that will create a strong yet adaptive national security architecture and action to obliterate terror, kidnapping, banditry, and all other forms of violent extremism from the face of our nation.

Gbajabiamila Delivers Final Speech As Speaker
Femi Gbajabiamila

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has called on the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, to consider providing more information to Nigerians on the difference between the salary and allowances of legislators.

Gbajabiamila made the plea on Thursday in Abuja when he received a delegation from the RMAFC at the National Assembly led by its chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Bello Shehu.

The Speaker of the Green Chamber observed that the controversy over the pay of lawmakers and making it a public debate all the time was caused by the lumping of the salaries and allowances of lawmakers together.

According to Gbajabiamila, allowances are tied to sundry duties or work of the office of a lawmaker like maintaining a constituency office, while the salary is the actual pay he earns as a legislator.

“You need to explain to the public the difference between salary and allowances. A lot of people lump them together and call them our take-home package. Salary is different and allowances are meant for many other issues.

“This explanation should be part of what you are working on right now regarding the judiciary and political office holders”, he said.

He also advised RMAFC to build a central monitoring platform to monitor revenue movements in all government revenue-generating agencies, while demanding that it submit a detailed proposal on its needs to enable the House to work on it speedily.

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has revealed that some of the gunmen who participated in an assassination attempt on Senator Ifeanyi Ubah have been arrested.

Soludo revealed this on Friday when he visited Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state, the same community where the attack happened about a month ago.

Ubah had lost four security aides and two personal assistants during the attack, but he was able to escape in his bulletproof car.

But during the burial of Pa Boniface Nwankwo, father of Hon. Dozie Nwankwo who represents Dunukofia, Njikoka, Anaocha federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Soludo announced that the culprits have been arrested and that security operatives were on the trail of the other members of the gang who were at large.

Soludo said: “Three weeks ago, it was in this same community that some elements choose to attack Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. I want to tell you that we have arrested a number of those involved in that attack. We are still on the trail of the remaining people.

“We will not let people like that define who we are. This is Anambra State, and we are peaceful people. We must embrace peace, even in the coming election. Anambra is peaceful, and Anambra is safe.

“We have chased away bad elements in the state. The pockets of crime you hear of are just a small number of the bad elements left. They will not disappear in one night, even in civilized places, they are still few bad elements.”

Soludo who joked with one of the sons of the deceased, Hon Dozie Nwankwo who is a senatorial candidate said: “Dozie, all the people you are running for Senate against are here, so who will leave the contest for the other? We are Anambra people, and violence doesn’t define us. Irrespective of party, we will remain brothers and sisters, and we always come together like this to support one another.”

The governor eulogized the deceased, saying he lived a good life, a long and impactful one too, and has died at the ripe age of 83.
