“Keeping Nnamdi Kanu In DSS Custody Is The Best” – Adamu Garba

Court Gives Condition To Grant Nnamdi Kanu Bail

Former presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba, has said the decision of the Court of Appeal Abuja, to halt the execution of its judgement which freed Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), of terrorism charges, is “the best”.

ABN TV had reported that the Abuja Appeal Court ordered that the enforcement of the judgment discharging Kanu be put on hold. It held that the counter-affidavit filed against the government application by Kanu’s legal team led by Mike Ozekhome (SAN) was misleading.

Ehenn! now we have a genuine order. Keeping Terrorist Nnamdi Kanu in DSS custody is the best. The appeal court in Jos has done an excellent job.

I was shocked when the Court in Umuahia ordered Kanu to be returned to Kenya. I immediately imagined the Judges held hostage by ESN.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, has assured his kinsmen that nobody would remove him from office.

Ayu made the remark while addressing his kinsmen of Jemgba ethnic group at his residence in the Gboko area of Benue State.

The national chairman has been having a running battle with some PDP governors including his home state Governor, Samuel Ortom, who are asking him to resign from office.

Ayu reassured the people that there was nothing to worry about over the call for him to vacate office.

He said, “The PDP is one and not divided. I am trying my best not to disappoint Benue people and Nigerians in general. So if you hear that they want to chase Ayu out as national chairman, don’t be worried; nobody is going to sack me as national chairman of our party. I will leave the seat at a day that God permits.”

He thanked Gboko people for the show of love to him, stressing that, “since I started politics in PDP in the last 30 years, Gboko has not rejected me, you are always supporting me. They say a prophet has no respect in his home, but my case is different I am overwhelmed by this great show of love. Nothing should worry you my people.”

Ayu added, “So nobody should try to bring any trouble to you. I am telling you today, PDP is one party, a party that has divisions does not win elections. No matter the strength of any party, if it does not have unity, it will lose elections.

“I have been silent over all the things you are hearing against me because I don’t want any crack in the party I belong in my state. I have the powers to say you and you will not go anywhere because I will insist that I must sign before you go anywhere.

“But I have signed for all candidates produced by the PDP to go ahead in their dreams, whether I liked it or not I signed. So I was doing that believing that I cannot shot myself in the leg.

“I want Benue to come first by winning all elections so that Nigerians will say that the national chairman has delivered his state to PDP with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar winning 90 percent of the votes and Titus Uba as governor in 2023.”

The PDP national chairman further stated that only God enthrones leadership and uses people to enthrone a person over others and protects that person.

He said, “I want to assure you that all these days, God has been protecting me even when I went on sick leave abroad, God was still protecting me.

“The Tiv people have suffered so much in this country. We are yet to get our share of the national cake, so my charge to you is not to relent prayers so that this time around come 2023, God will give us president who will work closely with the Governor of our state to wipe out our tears.

“During the senator J S Tarka’s era, God gave us a Fulani man, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, did he fight the Tiv nation? Did he kill our people? He appointed 5 ministers from Benue state and speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Chaha, Paul Unongo (Minister of steel), Isaac Shaahu (Minister of Communications), Mrs. Elizabeth Ivase (Education Minister) and Audu Ogbeh etc was he not a Fulani man?

“Another Fulani man, Yar Adua appointed a Tiv man, Michael Kaase Aondoakaa his Minister of Justice.

“Today, the flagbearer of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar who is not only a chieftaincy title holder of the Tiv people as the Zege Mule U the Tiv, he is my friend, he told me his plans for the Tiv nation. That he will wipe away the tears of the people.”

Russia Suspends Grain Export Deal With Ukraine

0

The Russian Defence Ministry on Saturday said Moscow has moved to drop its implementation of grain export deal brokered by U.N which has seen more than 9 million tons of grain exported from Ukraine, a development that has brought down global food prices.

The Ministry cited an alleged Ukrainian drone attack against Russia’s Black Sea Fleet ships moored off the coast of occupied Crimea, which Russia says took place in early Saturday, as the reason for the move. Ukraine has denied the attack.

The Russian declaration came one day after U.N. chief Antonio Guterres urged Russia and Ukraine to renew the deal. Guterres also urged other countries, mainly in the West, to expedite the removal of obstacles blocking Russian grain and fertilizer exports.

The U.N. chief underlined the urgency of renewing the deal brokered by the United Nations and Turkey in July, which expires on Nov. 19, “to contribute to food security across the world, and to cushion the suffering that this global cost-of-living crisis is inflicting on billions of people,” his spokesman said.

Russia’s U.N. Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia said before Moscow discusses a renewal “Russia needs to see the export of its grain and fertilizers in the world market, which has never happened since the beginning of the deal.”

South Korean capital Seoul saw dozens of people getting cardiac arrest during Halloween celebrations as thousands crowded narrow streets in Itaewaon neighbourhood.

Local authorities have said that 59 people were dead and 150 were injured. A fire brigade official said that more than 140 ambulances have been dispatched to the scene, AFP reports.

Yonhap news agency reported that around 50 people were in cardiac arrest, quoting the fire department.

Itaewon is a popular destination for people celebrating Halloween in the South Korean capital, and the incident apparently occurred as the result of a crush resulting from the size of the crowd.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol has ordered officials to dipatch first aid teams and for hospital beds to be immediately available.

Photographs published by Yonhap appeared to show more than a dozen people lying prone on a street that had been cordoned off by authorities, with rescue workers tending to some of them.

Video footage from the scene of the crush showed people performing emergency first aid on several victims who appeared to be prone on the pavement, while rescue workers rushed to help others.

Yellow-jacketed policemen formed a cordon around the site of the crush, with rescue officials loading victims — some of whom were covered with blankets or other coverings — into ambulances.

Around two dozen people were entirely covered by makeshift blankets on the roadside.

Labour Party Not Broke, Only Needs Support To Fund Peter Obi’s Campaign — Chairman

0

National Chairman of Labour Party, Julius Abure says the party is not broke but needs the support of stakeholders to fund the 2023 campaign of its presidential candidate. Peter Obi.

Abure emphasised that Obi can’t fund his campaign alone because he didn’t engage in the “gluttonic acquisition” as Anambra State governor between 2006 and 2014.

Read full statement:

LABOUR PARTY IS NOT BROKE

At a well attended inauguration of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja on Friday, I spoke extensively on the importance of campaign funding and the need for collaboration with stakeholders, particularly the candidates of the party at various levels.

I also emphasised that our presidential candidate alone cannot fund the election as he is known to be someone who did not engage in the gluttonic acquisition of our common patrimony in his days as a public servant.

However, the news making the round that I said that Labour Party is broke 24 hours to our campaign was reported out of context, hence the need to put the records straight.

What I said is that presidential election is very expensive and the presidential candidate alone will not be able to shoulder all the expenses and that we will therefore be needing collaboration from all candidates of the party and all well-meaning Nigerians.

The Nigerian media have been very wonderful and have being playing key role in the efforts by Nigerians to win back our country again. It is therefore commendable how they have partnered with the Labour Party on this task of voting out the fraudulent political circle that have undermined the people and mortgaged their destiny. We sincerely salute your courage.

Finally, I like to reiterate that Labour Party is not broke. We are not broke. We only need support from stakeholders to be able to embark on the nationwide campaign, to be able to tell Nigerians how we will return Nigeria to its place of pride.

Continued Detention Of Nnamdi Kanu Despite 3 Court Rulings Proof Buhari Has No Regards For Law, Igbo People – CUPP

Continued Detention Of Nnamdi Kanu Despite 3 Court Rulings Proof Buhari Has No Regards For Law, Igbo People - CUPP
Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere

President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government have come under fire from the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) for continuing to hold Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in custody despite three separate court rulings.

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the CUPP spokesman, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, who noted that the development was proof that President Buhari does not have regards for the Igbo people, or for the judiciary.

Ugochinyere further urged the Igbo people to mobilise massively against all candidates of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels.

Kanu was cleared of the terrorism-related allegations brought against him by an Abuja court of appeal, which also ordered his freedom.

Along with ordering Kanu’s freedom and the Federal Government to send him back to Kenya, where he was forcibly extradited, the Federal High Court in Umuahia also ruled in favor of the IPOB leader.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has stated that the Federal Government is not inclined to free the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra despite the court order requiring Nigeria to return him to Kenya and pay him N500 million as compensation.

However, the CUPP in its statement said the current administration has no regard for the rule of law.

“I have observed with dismay the continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Federal Government despite three recent court judgments in his favour.

“This total disregard for court judgments by this administration has shown that the APC government does not have an iota of respect for the judiciary.

“Not only that, this development is also an indication that President Buhari is calling Igbos fools.

“It is surprising that the President can be sanctioning this reckless and illegal action of his men and agencies despite saying it openly many times that only the court will determine Mazi Kanu’s fate.

“This government’s action is an affront to Igbos, especially our traditional and religious leaders who have approached Buhari on Kanu’s issue many times with him insisting that the court will be allowed to handle the case.

“This hate and disrespect for the Igbos by the President and his government should not be allowed to continue without the Igbos replying in a manner that will show their annoyance.

“I therefore call on all Igbos to reply Buhari in the same coin by rejecting all APC candidates at all levels at the poll.

“Igbos should give zero vote to all APC candidates from top to bottom to display their grievances against the government.

“A government that does not respect the Igbos and their leaders should not be rewarded with votes.”
