APC Chieftain, Obiwuru Accuses Ikpeazu Of Abandoning Governance For Frivolity
Dr Okezie Ikpeazu

A southeast stalwart of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), Chima Obiwuru, on Thursday, accused Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of abandoning governance for frequent political jamborees that have no direct positive impact on the economic and infrastructural development of the state.

Obiwuru was baring his mind against the background of the recent overseas and out-of-state trips by the aggrieved five Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors fondly called G-5 governors.

The five aggrieved governors on Wednesday met their Bauchi counterpart, Bala Mohammed.

The meeting among the governors was held less than 24 hours after Mohammed’s private discussions with the PDP presidential candidate in Abuja.

The G-5 governors have withdrawn support for Atiku, citing the resignation of Senator Iyioricha Ayu as National Chairman of the party as a condition for peace to reign.

The PDP 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, however, had insisted that Ayu’s resignation was not practical at this point in time, adding that he had moved on from the crisis.

However, Obiwuru, while evaluating the impact of Governor Ikpeazu’s frequent travelling on the development of Abia, in a statement on Thursday, opined that the governor shall be leaving no tangible legacy and frowned on the alleged failure of the Ikpeazu-led administration to address the pitiable condition of Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state.

He asserted that the Abia helmsman has wasted seven years in office as governor of the state.

Obiwuru, a close aide to Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, Abia APC gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 general elections and the immediate past Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, asked Governor Ikpeazu to tender an apology to the people of the state for wasting taxpayers’ money in junketing around the globe with Governor Nyesom Wike.

“Abians should never think of voting PDP again, you can’t continue to make the same mistake and expect a different answer,” he avowed.

Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Abia State, Onyebuchi Ememanka has explained the reason behind the recent visit of the G-5 governors to Benue State.

In a statement on Thursday, Ememanka explained that the aggrieved governors of the PDP were in Benue to show solidarity with their colleague, hinting that the visit was part of the plans to strengthen the party at all levels.

According to him: “These Governors cannot continue to wait on the wings of indecision and allow other parties to erode traditional PDP stronghold states. Elections are not won in Abuja but locally at the various units in the state. These governors have absolutely nothing against the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.”

Presidential candidate of the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar has assured the Nigerian youths that the party will help them realize their aspirations.

Atiku made this vow on Thursday at the inauguration of the national youth wing of the PDP presidential campaign council in Abuja.

The PDP presidential candidate shared photos of a delegation of the PDP youth council via his verified Twitter handle on Friday.

He tweeted “Our agenda for a youth-inclusive campaign was boosted today as I led other leaders of our great party, @OfficialPDPNig, to the inauguration of the PDP Youth Council.

“The youth of Nigeria are a crucial component of the effort to recover Nigeria. As ONE, we can get it done. -AA.” he added.

Addressing the youths Atiku said, if elected, his administration will create an enabling environment for youths to thrive.

He said the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC will be voted out of government in the 2023 general election.

According to Atiku, the ruling APC has “dashed the hopes of Nigerians.”

Atiku claimed he played a significant role in the “fight” to sustain Nigeria’s democracy, adding that it is the reason “youths are enjoying their freedom of today”.

He said, “To be honest, PDP is the only political party. APC is not a political party; it is an alliance of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and Tinubu’s party. It is an alliance. And we have seen that all alliances in this country have disappeared,” he said.

“Let me tell you: No matter your poor background, PDP will give you the opportunity to be whatever you want to become in Nigeria.”

Atiku told the youths that he understands the nation’s challenges, adding that he has developed his five-point agenda for the country’s growth.

He stated, “Do you know why I say so? Because those five-point programmes, I sat down myself to write them. I did not ask any professor.

“If you study these five points — from national unity, security, education to restructuring — you will find that they are seamlessly interconnected.

“Therefore, I want to assure you. No matter your poor background, no matter your position, PDP will help you realise your individual and collective aspirations in this country.

“APC has come and dashed the hopes of Nigerians. We don’t expect them to bring change in any way in the next five to six months.”

Atiku urged the youths to go around the “nooks and crannies” of the country to convince Nigerians to vote for the PDP.

“Since the creation of Nigeria, there has never been any political party as old as PDP. So, we have succeeded in laying the ground for sustained democracy in our country,” he said.

“Therefore, you have a legacy to be proud of as members of the youth council.

“Let me, therefore, charge you with the responsibility of making sure that you carry the message of the PDP to the nooks and crannies of this country,” he said.

While addressing the youths, the PDP vice presidential candidate and governor of Delta state, Ifeanyi Okowa said Nigeria needs a leader who understands the nation’s challenges and can solve them.

Okowa noted that Nigeria needs a leader “who can speak the truth at all times, uphold the constitution of this nation, and respect all laws that exist

IPOB Reacts To Alleged Invasion Of ESN Camp In Ohafia By Military

Terror Tag Is Political, Not Based On Law, IPOB Tells International Community
IPOB

The indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB has described as lies the alleged invasion of the ESN camp in Ohafia by the Nigerian military.

In a press release on Friday by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, IPOB stated that ESN has no camp in Ohafia.

We the global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the command and leadership of our Great Leader, Mazi Nnamdi KANU, wish to debunk concocted and state sponsored media blackmail by Nigeria Military claims that they invaded ESN camp in Ohafia, Biafraland.

“We have said it before now that ESN operatives do not have any camp in Amangwu Ohafia LGA. All the criminal camps that Nigeria Army have claimed to have invaded are not ESN camps. ESN camps are secured and sacred territories. ESN don’t indulge in kidnapping and collecting of ramson from innocent citizens who eventually lead military to those camps.

“The Nigeria compromised Security Agencies particularly the Military, Police, and DSS agents must stop their continuous blackmail and demonization of IPOB and ESN operatives for wanting Biafra Independence. The World and even the Nigeria Government know that we are innocent in all their allegations. Nigeria media should do investigative journalism and not allow Government and their security agents to use and influence them against IPOB. Our only crime against the Nigeria State is our quest and desire to be free from a Nation that hates our people.

“ESN has no business or hand in the kidnapping of Army officer in Ebem Ohafia.

For Nigerian Army to claim that they raided the hideouts of Indigenous People Of Biafra or Eastern Security Network in Amangu Community, Abia State, in attempt to rescue an abducted soldier, Staff Sergeant Bassey Ikunugwan is false. If there is any such camp in Amangwu Community Ohafia, it is not ESN camp and those armed gang at the camp are not working for IPOB.

“It is a calculated attempt by the Nigeria State to blackmail IPOB anytime they invade any criminal hideout. This type of blackmail is no longer holding waters. It simply doesn’t work anymore. We advise Nigeria Government and it’s security agencies to change to another blackmailing format. This one has failed!

“IPOB and our ESN Operatives are disciplined gallant men and women who protect our people and do not engage in any criminality or kidnapping and snatching of cars.”

Similarly, Mrs. Nyako ordered INEC to accord due recognition to Mr Ogah as APC’s candidate.

Mr. Ogah, through his lawyer, Solomon Umoh, had filed the suit seeking to compel the APC and INEC to recognise him as the party’s duly elected candidate for next year’s poll in Abia State.

Mr. Umoh, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), argued that the primary election that led to his client’s emergence was monitored by INEC officials.

He told the court the purported primary election that produced Mr. Emenike was not monitored by INEC.
