According to the campaign calendar, APC which flags off its rally in Jos today is expected to end with another rally in Lagos State on February 13, 2023.

ABN TV reports that the move to tighten security at the Jos venue may not be unconnected to recent attacks on the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his supporters during campaign rallies in both Kaduna and Borno State.

Thugs suspected to have been sponsored by rival political parties had launched an attack on PDP supporters to disrupt the rally.

“We are going to establish Hisbah Corps to champion the course of orphans’ welfare, more especially their education and health in a bid to secure their future”, he said.

Buni also hinted that the Hisbah Corps will be mandated to coordinate mass weddings for less privileged orphans across the state.

“Our decision to wade into supporting the orphans, widows among other vulnerable groups is to empower them with start-up capital for self-reliance.

“We must join hands together to help those who lost their parents taking into cognizance the decade-age-long insurgency suffered across the state”, he added.

Buni, however, directed the State Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment, and Employment Generation to immediately empower 400 mothers of the benefiting orphans under the program so as to become self-reliant.

Peter Obi, My Best Candidate – Ozonna Soludo

As Governor Charles Soludo’s attack on Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, continues to reverberate, Ozonna Soludo has differed with his father’s stance, saying Obi is the best candidate.

Ozonna, Governor Soludo’s son, said he does not want to be dragged into politics but prefers Obi to other candidates.

The 28-year-old UK-based artiste disclosed this in a comment on Facebook in response to a social media post criticizing his father for opposing Obi’s presidential ambition.

Recall that Governor Soludo had attacked Obi in a lengthy essay on Monday, claiming that he would not win the presidential election.

While also throwing shade at Obi’s claim of making huge savings for Anambra State during his tenure, Soludo also said that governments exist to save lives and not to save money.

Ozonna said Peter Obi is the best candidate despite his father’s stance.

He wrote, “I am not an extension of anybody. I have my own opinions and have always said I think Peter is the best candidate. All this has nothing to do with me”.

Former Manchester United forward Teddy Sheringham has called on the Red Devils to send Cristiano Ronaldo packing out of Old Trafford after his controversial interview with Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo, who is now preparing for the World Cup with his Portuguese teammates, feels he has been disrespected and is being pushed out of United, despite his agent declaring that he wished to leave this past summer.

He even stated he had no respect for coaches Ralf Rangnick and now Erik ten Hag.

Sheringham told Daily Mail: “He’s using words like ‘disrespected’ and him disrespecting the manager. When you come out with these things, there are going to be a lot of unhappy Man United supporters this morning reading all this.

“It’s definitely, definitely, time for him to go now.

“There’s no turning back. He should have gone at the start of the season, he didn’t, they tried to work with it.

“Obviously his body language hasn’t been great – I think he needs to go now.”

I Can Still Prove My Worth At Real Madrid – Hazard

Belgium star, Eden Hazard says he’s optimistic he can still prove his worth at Real Madrid.

The Belgian has asked for patience as he looks to return to 100 percent, though he admits he thought things would play out differently.

“It’s up to me to adapt because I’ve had some difficult months in which I haven’t had much playing time,” said Hazard.

“Above all, I have to prove that I can still do it. I don’t doubt it myself, but I understand that the outside world does.”

“Why do I play so little with Ancelotti? Before the season we talked and he told me that I was going to have my chances,” said Hazard.

“Obviously, this isn’t happening a lot, but I understand that Ancelotti cannot always answer the same question.

“I don’t want to leave Real Madrid. Maybe after the World Cup, things will be different. I want to play, but it is the coach who makes his decisions.

“I accept it, but I want to show him that I deserve to play more. When you don’t play it’s difficult.”

NASS Leadership: Akpabio Asks APC To Caution Rebellious Lawmakers
Sen. Akpabio

Senator Godswill Akpabio has said that he would approach the highest court in the land to seek redress on the Court of Appeal judgement which nullified his election as the APC candidate for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District.

This position was contained in a statement Akpabio, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs personally signed on Monday.

He also advised his supporters, party members and all his constituents to “remain calm and law-abiding, as they continue their campaigns for the successes of the APC in Akwa Ibom North West, Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large”.

He said in the statement: “My attention has been drawn to the judgement delivered by the Court of Appeal Abuja Division, directing the INEC to delist my name from their list as the APC senatorial candidate for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District in the forthcoming 2023 elections.

“It is instructive to mention that I was not a party in the said Appeal though Orders were made against me and my interest.

“Whilst awaiting a copy of the said judgement to be made available to me and any other interested party, it is important to state that I am a Lawyer by training and a law-abiding citizen of this country and I am bound by our laws and judgements emanating from our courts including the one under reference.

“My Lawyers on my advice and brief have commenced the scrutiny of the contents of the judgement as read, for the purposes of seeking appropriate legal redress.

“I am aware that the Supreme Court of Nigeria has the final say in these matters. I, therefore, strongly advise my supporters, APC members and all my constituents to remain calm and law-abiding, as they continue their campaigns for the successes of the APC in Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large.”

Strike: Why We Want To Organise Training For Union, Labour Leaders — Ngige

Igbo Should Stop Playing Bad Politics – Ngige
Chris Ngige

The Federal Government has mandated an eight-week course at the Michael Imoudu National Institute of Labour Studies for labour leaders in Nigeria.

A statement from the Ministry of Labour and Employment, quoted the minister, Chris Ngige, as announcing this yesterday when he defended the ministry’s 2023 budget before the House of Representatives Committee on Labour.

Ngige was quoted to have said that the training would acquaint the labour leaders with the laws guiding trade unionism and trade dispute resolution in Nigeria in line with the conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

He also said the training would enable the unions to know the limits of their powers and where their employers’ powers stop.

He said, “You know a lot of people who answer labour and union leaders are not trained in the labour laws of the country including those who are professors. They disrespect labour laws. They disrespect the labour ministry, labour committees and everybody.

“So, we want to upgrade MINILS and make it mandatory that once you’re elected as Comrade President or Secretary General or whatever, you must go there for a course that will last not less than eight weeks, to get certificated.

“Otherwise, you see people who are educated and knowledgeable and they are telling you that Section 43 of the Trade Dispute Act 2004, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria is not applicable to them or anybody. How do you say that? You’re insulting the parliaments that are making laws.”

We’ve Fought Activities Of Armed Militias In South East — IPOB

Biafra Civil War: IPOB Declares Sit-At-Home May 30
IPOB

People of Biafra, IPoB, yesterday said contrary to insinuations that the group and Eastern Security Network, ESN are behind insecurity in South East, they have helped to curb alleged state sponsored armed militia activities in the zone.

IPoB also said its reason for forming ESN is to safeguard South East territory from the terrorists masquerading as herdsmen in bushes and forests in South East and not to attack and terrorize the people.

A statement by IPoB’s Image Maker, Emma Powerful, among others, said “IPoB and ESN rather, without doubt, helped to curb the spread of state sponsored armed militias in the South East, who are the cause of the insecurity in the zone. Our aim of forming ESN outfit is to safeguard our territory from the marauding Fulani terrorists masquerading as herdsmen in our bushes and forests in Biafraland.

“In their effort to blackmail IPoB, Nigeria government and their Politicians sponsored criminal armed groups in the South East to create insecurity so as to blame IPoB and ESN, including making money from Federal government.

“It is heart-warming that our people now know the truth and they commend ESN for securing our farm lands. Today many of our bushes are safe and secure and our farmers are happily going to farms without the threat of being butchered like wild animals or our women and ladies raped in their farmlands.

“IPoB is applying diplomatic and strategic moves in handling the barrage of blackmail and media propaganda against us by the Nigeria government. Nigeria government unlawfully proscribed IPoB and tagged us terrorists for seeking self determination of our territory. It is shameful of them that when we sued them over the proscription, they refused to come to answer the case and charges in their own court, what a shameless people. It gladdens our hearts however, that the International governmental bodies and other countries in the world know us as a peaceful and nonviolent movement seeking for freedom of our people.

“Nigeria government is still working hard to brand IPoB as a violent movement before the International community. Fortunately for us, this is the information technology age not 1967. The International community has its Intelligence sources that give it accurate information devoid of Nigeria government’s propaganda. Despite their proscription, arrests, torture, and forceful abductions in Biafra and Nigeria, IPoB still maintain good reputation with the International community, unlike the lawless Nigerian government.”

“What infiltrators, saboteurs, agents of provocateur and others paid to tarnish IPoB’s reputation don’t understand is that, violent movements usually don’t get a round table discussion or audience with the International community. Have you ever seen any terrorist group having legal representation and engaging with global audiences?

“We have global attention because we are not violent, neither are we terrorists as Nigeria government and its compromised officials unjustly tagged us, while shielding their brothers who have rendered the whole of Northern Nigeria unsafe.

“Anybody killing, kidnapping, snatching of cars and collecting of ransom in the name of doing it for IPoB or Nnamdi Kanu, is an enemy and has no part with IPoB struggle to restore Biafra. We all need to join hands with IPoB and ESN, to root out both sponsored and individual criminals in our land because criminal activities are an impediment to our freedom.

“The good relationship IPoB has maintained with the International community even with all the heavy lobbying against us is a major problem for Nigeria. That is why till today Nigeria government is still accusing some countries of supporting IPoB to destabilize Nigeria, but their efforts are exercise in futility.
