The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has slammed another N20 billion suit against the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.

Kanu, through his lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, stated that the AGF defamed the IPOB leader when he claimed that the latter jumped bail, and had asked for N20bn for damages.

This is coming barely four days after the initial N20bn suit filed by Kanu against Malami was discontinued.

The first suit dated September 23, had sought “a declaration that the defendant’s arrest and imprisonment of the plaintiff (Kanu) at a location in Kenya and the subsequent imprisonment of the plaintiff in the aircraft that conveyed him from Kenya to Nigeria amounted to false arrest and false imprisonment.”

However, in the latest suit dated November 21, Kanu demanded compensation following alleged defamatory and libellous claims against him.

The suit was contained in a letter sent to Malami titled, “RE: Pre-action notice and formal demand for settlement of the claim of defamation/libel of the character of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu grounded on your false, defamatory and libelous publications that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu jumped bail.”

Sharing copies of the document on his Twitter page yesterday, Ejimakor said: “Yesterday, I served on AGF Malami a Legal Notice (as required by law), notifying him of my intention to take legal action against him for his defamatory & libelous statements that #MNK jumped bail.”

Kanu, through his lawyer, said Malami’s claim that he jumped bail despite a court order clearing him was libellous.

Condemning Malami’s remark, Ejimakor said in the letter, “Given the said judgment of the Abia State High Court, your above utterances were false, malicious, and reckless and they were read and heard worldwide and portrayed our Client in light.”

According to the letter, Kanu demanded “the sum of N20,000,000,000.00 (Twenty Billion Naira only) being general and exemplary damages;

“An unreserved personal letter of apology, to be prominently and boldly published full-page in two Nigerian Newspapers of national circulation, namely: Guardian Newspaper and Sun Newspaper.

“You shall write and deliver to your superior officer(s) and/or your employer(s) a Legal Opinion to the effect that our Client did not jump bail given the 19th January 2022 Judgment of the High Court of Abia State.”

The posture of the five governors, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Dr. Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Mr. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state, has allegedly been not to support Atiku’s presidential ambition.

He said that the state PDP would not fail to speak the truth or decry an anomaly in the party, because of its support for Atiku’s presidential bid.

Amah disclosed that the position of the G5 PDP governors, including the leader of the party in the state, Ikpeazu, couldn’t imply that the party cannot say the truth.

Amah said: “We believe in Atiku’s candidacy because we believe he has the capacity to preside over the country as president.” He indicated that in the coming days, pending issues would be resolved.

The system allows for the monitoring of over 176,000 polling units in the country to ensure there are no incidences and where there is one, they are resolved immediately.

“It is an incidence-recording office with high resolution servers and computers and it helps in monitoring the election in all angles.

“We have also trained 40 volunteers, one person for each state and the FCT, plus extra three persons who will serve as the coordinators.

“They are to assist in monitoring the units with the high-tech systems we have provided,” he said.

Sir Udensi described Peter Obi as the best of all the presidential candidates.

According to him, no other presidential candidate beats the profile of Obi whom he said as Governor of Anambra did not borrow to fund the budget and did not siphon billions of Naira like his other counterparts.

“It has not happened since the return of democracy in 1999, no governor has left office and left the government account in green but Peter Obi is the only one who left billions of Naira along with investments. We must have to commend him,” he said.

He insists that the situation of the country today demands emergency and not just about party politics, adding that Peter Obi is the only person that has the capacity to rescue Nigeria.

The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria voted Tuesday to increase the benchmark interest rate by 100 basis points to 16.5 per cent, the highest since 2001.

The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, disclosed this while reading the communique of the last MPC meeting of the year on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.

The apex bank had increased the MPR from 11.5 per cent earlier this year to 15.5 per cent across three consecutive rate hikes.

Soludo To UNICEF, UNDP: We Will Eradicate Poverty In Anambra
Governor Charles Soludo

The apex socio-political youth group in the South East geopolitical zone, the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL has called for the commencement of an impeachment process against the governor of Anambra state, Prof. Charles Soludo over the recent tantrums on the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

“We call on the Speaker and the entire members of Anambra State House of Assembly to immediately start the process of Soludo’s impeachment process in other to save Anambra people of this national embarrassment by a supposed Professor.

“We want the entire world to know that Soludo’s unguided statement against Peter Obi is his personal opinion and not the opinion of his own family. His own biological son said Peter Obi is the best Presidential candidate which is contrary and directly opposite to his father’s statement.

“Governor Soludo is standing alone on his attack against Peter Obi and anyone who might have paid him for such a hatchet job should go and collect his money back from him because his statement does not hold any water whosoever,” the coalition said in a statement on Tuesday.

The group also declared Friday 25 November, 2022 as a day all Anambrians will carry their refuse, debris and dump them at the gate of Anambra State Government House to serve as a deterrent to other Igbo political officeholders who might want to insult the sensibility of the Igbo nation.

“Dumping of refuse in the house of anyone who committed sacrilege against his people is a traditional way of disciplining and teaching lessons to anyone found waiting.

“The Igbo nation is a big and blessed nation that should not be toiled with by one single individual. That Soludo is the governor of Anambra State today is not of his making but is the making of God using Anambra people to vote him into office.

“The statement of Soludo and the audacity with which he spoke against Mr. Peter Obi the Labour Party Presidential candidate portrayed him as a man who felt that he is above God and Anambra people who elected him as governor.

“Without mincing words, Soludo insulted the sensibility of Anambra State and the entire Igbo nation by his misguided statement against Mr. Peter Obi. Soludo just confirmed to the world that he lacks common sense.

“It is very unfortunate that Anambrians elected a misfit with the title of a Professor as governor and the error has to be corrected immediately by Anambra State House of Assembly members by impeaching Governor Charles Soludo immediately. Anambra is too blessed to have such a character as governor.

“Four years is too long to wait for a man who has no vision to lead the good people of Anambra State that have enough intelligent people both home and abroad. It will be an Insult on Ndi Anambra to wait for 4 years for Soludo to complete his tenure which was given to him by the people,” the statement added.

Madrid Rejects Ronaldo's Return After Man Utd Failure
Christiano Ronaldo

Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo have been in the news, since the explosive interview the striker held with Piers Morgan hit the airwaves.

The Portuguese star in the interview heavily criticised both Manchester United as a club and the manager Erik ten Hang, saying the club had not grown since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013  adding that he does not respect the manager.

The club had since said that they are exploring legal options as regards the interview and what can be done, but there have been speculations that United will most likely release Ronaldo.

Although the Portuguese star is presently in Qatar representing his country at the ongoing 2022 Qatar World Cup, the five time Ballon d’Or winner might be ‘clubless’ after the tournament in Qatar.

According to The Sun UK, Real Madrid has turned down any possible chance of Ronaldo returning to the club after the Spanish club said they are not looking to sign any players in the January transfer window.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side could be without striker Karim Benzema after he had to pull out of France’s World Cup squad due to injury.

Ronaldo was previously at Madrid after leaving Manchester United in 2009. He spent nine seasons with Los Blancos and became one of the best players to ever play football as he won everything on offer.
