The presidential candidate of APC, Bola Tinubu, has said it would be a disgrace for him to mention the name of Peter Obi, his Labour Party (LP) counterpart.

Tinubu stated this while speaking at a rally in Gbaramatu, Delta state on Friday.

According to the former Lagos governor, the “wrong statistics” from Obi are not what Nigeria currently needs.

Tinubu went on to describe himself as one of “a few” presidential candidates still in the race.

He said: “As I stand before you, there are a few of us left running. One says he is Atiku. How many times has he been running? He is always on the run and he is tired. Tell him to go and sit down. Enough is enough.

“The other one think na statistics we go chop. He lies with arithmetic that no Indian can solve. To mention his name is a disgrace to me. I won’t mention the name. Wrong arithmetic, wrong statistics, warehouse economy — that is not what Nigeria needs.”

Bola Tinubu

The Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress, APC, says its flag bearer, Bola Tinubu, will not honour the third edition of the presidential town hall meeting hosted by Arise Television.

This was contained in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Director, Media & Publicity, APC Presidential Campaign Council.

The announcement is coming on the heels of the recent withdrawal by the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate and his running mate, Atiku Abubakar, and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, from a similar town hall meeting, “The Candidate” hosted by Original Daria Media concept, Nigerian Television Authority, and MacArthur Foundation.

Recall that the Presidential town hall meeting series organised by Arise TV is slated for 4 December 2022.

While expressing surprise at the inclusion of Tinubu in its advertisement, Onanuga alleged in his statement that there was no prior consultation with him and his aides nor consent obtained from the candidate.

Part of the statement read: “Our attention has been drawn to an advertisement by Arise News in connection with a Town Hall meeting scheduled for 4 December.

“As we said in an earlier statement, the busy and hectic campaign schedules of Asiwaju Tinubu will not permit him to honour all invitations from different radio and TV stations for debate and or Town Hall meetings hence our decision for him not to start with one media organisation and later ignore the others.”

2023: ‘Peter Obi Not Worth 10 Kobo’ – Governor Sule

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has dismissed online ratings that put Peter Obi ahead of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate (PDP) Atiku Abubakar.

Sule claimed that the criticisms of Obi, who was a former governor of Anambra State, by the current Governor, Charles Soludo, had devalued Obi as a presidential candidate to less than 10 kobo.

He made the statement on Wednesday while featured on the Channels Television’s Politics Today programme.

Sule said that the current governor of Anambra State where Peter Obi was governor is the right person to tell what happened during the period of Peter Obi in that State.

“So, if you go to Anambra, look at what the governor of Anambra (is saying). They were in the same party. It’s not that they changed parties. It’s Peter Obi that changed parties, but it’s the same All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

“So, if you go and see what he is saying today about Peter Obi, you will not buy Peter Obi for 10 kobo.”

He added that there is no comparison between Tinubu and Obi, arguing that Tinubu has made the economy of Lagos better today than Anambra State.

I’m With Tinubu, His Legacy Projects In Lagos Outstanding — Asari-Dokubo

Asari Dokubo

A Niger Delta activist Asari Dokubo has thrown his weight behind Bola Tinubu, saying the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate is miles ahead of other contenders for Aso Rock.

“For the presidential election, I am with Tinubu because I saw what he did in Lagos State and the legacies he left behind,” he said on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Friday.

As far as he is concerned, Tinubu was instrumental in the development of Lagos State and helped turned the fortunes of the former Nigerian capital.

“Lagos has transformed from what it used to be like a big ghetto, a junkyard to a global centre and one of the biggest economies in the whole of Africa. Somebody kickstarted it; somebody laid the foundation,” he maintained.

According to him, those claiming otherwise should also know that even in the biggest cities across the world, there are people who are not okay with the government. This, he maintained, is expected in a place like Lagos where the APC flagbearer has succeeded in laying a good foundation.

While he said other contenders like the Labour Party’s Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) were former governors and in a similar league like Tinubu, he said Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) does not have such a credential.

“Atiku has actually never actually handled executive power. He was a spare tire. He was a vice president,” Dokubo said.

The Niger Delta activist said though PDP, Labour Party, and the APC’s manifestoes are all great, execution depends on individuals as he maintained that Tinubu is the best choice for the presidential position.

A former governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, has donated 20 buses to the campaign of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

He announced the donation when Atiku visited Gombe for the PDP presidential campaign rally in the state.

The former governor was a political ally and strong supporter of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, who contested and lost the PDP presidential ticket to Atiku.

The donation of the vehicles, pundits said, showed that Dankwambo has keyed into the Atiku project.

While speaking at the Gombe Township Stadium, venue of the PDP presidential campaign, Dankwambo pledged to support Atiku to win the presidential election in 2023.

He described Atiku as the next “president of Nigeria.”

Our correspondent reports that Dankwambo is contesting for the Gombe-North senatorial seat, which he lost to the incumbent, Senator Saidu Ahmed Alkali, of the APC, in 2019.

Everton Should Not Hesitate To Sell Iwobi – Agbonlahor

Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi is set to sign a new £100,000-a-week deal with Everton, according to the Sun.

Iwobi is now a key player under Frank Lampard and ready to pen a fresh three-and-a-half-year agreement.

The 26-year-old has just 18 months of his current £70,000-a-week contract left and the new one will take him to 2026.

A £38million signing from Arsenal in 2019, Iwobi was proving to be a flop at Goodison Park but he has completely turned around his fortunes.

Despite only scoring once this season, he has delivered a string of top performances and is one of the first names on Lampard’s team sheet.

A new deal for Iwobi is a lift for the Toffees, who have been hit by injuries.

Midfielder James Garner was ruled out for two months with a back problem.

The 21-year-old stayed behind when the club traveled to Australia for the Sydney Super Cup and Lampard said: “He’s probably going to be back at the back end of January or early February.

“It’s a disappointing injury.”

Fellow midfielder Tom Davies flew back early from Australia after suffering a knee problem in training.

And Colombian defender Yerry Mina strained a hamstring in the game against Celtic.

Everton currently sits 17th in the Premier League table after a poor start to the season.

Their first game back after the World Cup break is against struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers at Goodison Park.
