Compare PDP Regime With APC, Make No Mistake In 2023 – Atiku Tells Youths
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar

Former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged young people to compare the administrations of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) before voting in 2023.

Atiku claimed that the APC is unconcerned about the future of young people and that the party should be expelled for the country’s regressive policies over the last eight years since it took power from the PDP.

According to reports, the PDP presidential candidate spoke at a campaign rally in Ondo State.

Atiku specifically warned the youths not to vote for the APC in the upcoming 2023 general elections.

He said:

We have started our campaign rally in Ondo State in the South-West and it is deliberate because we want to show you that we appreciate what you have done for us in the last election. You gave us the highest votes in the South-West during the last presidential election, and we will never forget that. That is why if you repeat the same thing, we promise to deal with insecurity; we will also make sure that all the federal roads that lead to Ondo state are motorable.

Atiku assured the citizens that his administration if elected, would ensure that young men and women were employed.

We will set aside enough money to make sure that we empower them, he said. The former VP added: “That’s why in our policy documents, we said that we will set aside $10 billion to make sure that we provide small and medium enterprises for young men and women to empower themselves. It is our number one priority. We will also provide enough funds for education so that our universities shall continue to work perfectly, not the one we are witnessing today. APC doesn’t care for your education. You can compare what PDP has done in 14 years to what APC has done in the last 8 years, and you want to repeat to vote for APC again?, We say No.

A landslide on a motorway in southern Brazil has killed at least two people and left dozens missing.

A torrent of mud fell onto the BR-376 highway in the state of Paraná, hitting at least 16 vehicles, authorities said.

Rescue workers at the scene said bad weather and the remote location were complicating the search effort.

Local authorities told a news conference that between 30 and 50 people could be missing.

Emergency services have located six survivors, including the mayor of the coastal town of Guaratuba, Roberto Justus.

In a video posted on social media, Mr. Justus said he was “alive by the grace of God”, according to AFP news agency.

“It was horrible,” he said. “The mountain just fell on top of us. It swept away every last car.”

Aerial images released by emergency services show the damage caused by the landslide on Monday night which swept away a section of the highway and the vehicles on it.

There are concerns there could be further landslides with national weather service INMET issuing heavy rain warnings for multiple states in Brazil.

Five other occupants in the van who sustained various injuries were conveyed in the government house ambulance and another unmarked Hilux van for treatment in a health facility. Governor Fintiri’s personal physician and head of the government house clinic, Dr. William Teri, who was among the first responders at the crash also conveyed the victims to a hospital for treatment.

A source at the scene of the accident who helped with the evacuation and rescue effort, however, said “I took out three lifeless bodies, but there’s a fourth that I think can hardly make it out of coma because of the injury he sustained. There were about nine occupants in the Ramp 2 Hilux van the head of vigilantes for Fintiri/Farauta campaign involved in the accident was traveling in.”

Governor Fintiri, who also helped to coordinate rescue activities was disturbed by tragic death involving his convoy.

Only last week, Governor Fintiri narrowly escaped death by the whispers when a truck which lost control almost rammed into his stationary motorcade. Unfortunately, two vehicles on his convoy, were not so lucky as the truck crushed into them.

The judge, Binta Nyako, in her judgment, held that based on the evidence and testimonies of witnesses, the APGA governorship primary election held on 29 May in the state “was flawed and marred by irregularities”

Justice Nyako consequently nullified the election and ordered the party to conduct a fresh primary election within 14 days.

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, on Wednesday, stuck out a suit by a governorship aspirant in the All Progressives Congress, APC, Benard Mikko, over the party’s primary elections in Rivers State.

The Governorship candidate of the APC, Tonye Cole, the Independent National Electoral Commission, and another governorship aspirant of the APC Ojukaye Flagg-Amachree was also joined in the suit.

But the court ruled that the suit was lacking in merit.

Mikko had approached the court to direct INEC to disqualify Tonye Cole from next year’s Governorship election, claiming that the primary election held on 26th of May, 2022, that brought him in as the governorship candidate was marred with irregularities.

He also claimed that the candidate has a questionable character following his indictment in a white paper report by a commission of inquiry set up by the Rivers State government.

The presiding judge, Justice Ayua Phoebe in her judgment said the court lacked the jurisdiction to hear the suit because the plaintiff failed to exhaust all the internal mechanisms of the party before instituting the legal action, adding that the party is supreme.

The judge, while describing the suit as frivolous and an abuse of the court process, ruled that Mikko also failed to abide by his earlier oath of allegiance sworn to the APC never to institute any legal action against the party and that he will support whoever emerged from the primaries.

While the counsel to the APC, Chinda Chizim commended the judgment, that of the plaintiff, Eli Ojigba said he will consult his client for his next line of action.

Peter Obi Took Labour Party From Zero To Hero – Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri, a socio-political activist has said the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi will lose the 2023 election.

Omokri said Obi knows he would lose the presidential election and fade away in history’s dustbin.

In a series of tweets, the social critic insisted that Obi was ill-prepared for the presidency.

He noted that barely two months to the presidential election, the former Anambra State governor has not presented his manifesto.

Omokri accused the LP presidential candidate of churning out fake economic statistics.

He wrote: “Peter Obi will definitely lose the 2023 election and fade away into history’s dustbin. Even Peter is aware of that by now.

“Obi, a man who still has not produced his manifesto barely two months to the election, is obviously ill-prepared.

“That is also why his statistics are inaccurate, and his stories are contradictory. Nigeria does not need a kindergarten President.

“Day 51 of #WhyShouldIVoteAtiku: How can you say a candidate is the best, yet more than six months after he declared he has no manifesto?

“His campaign is built on fake statistics and emotional appeals to a section of youths who do not remember his mediocre performance as Governor.”
