Chelsea defeated Manchester United 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with second-half goals from Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer handing the hosts victory in their Premier League clash.

Manchester United appeared to have taken the lead in the 34th minute through Matheus Cunha, but the goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR review.

United created several opportunities in the first half but failed to convert them, while Chelsea also had an effort from Estêvão disallowed for offside.

Chelsea broke the deadlock five minutes after the restart when Rogers collected a pass from Romeo Lavia, drove into the box and chipped goalkeeper Senne Lammens in the 50th minute.

The hosts doubled their advantage in the 64th minute after referee Peter Bankes awarded a penalty following a VAR review of Lisandro Martínez’s challenge on Wesley Fofana.

Martínez, who had already been booked, received a second yellow card and was sent off for the foul, leaving Manchester United with 10 men.

Palmer converted the resulting spot kick to put Chelsea 2-0 ahead, a lead they maintained until the final whistle.

The defeat marked United’s seventh loss in 13 matches, further increasing the pressure on manager Michael Carrick.

Manchester United will next face Roma in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, November 3.
