It was a day of joy, thanksgiving, and community unity as the people of Ebem Ohafia Ancient Kingdom gathered on July 5, 2026, at the residential palace of their traditional ruler to celebrate the 86th birthday of Ugoeze Nne Ojingwa Ukoha, wife of the Paramount Ruler of Ebem Ohafia Ancient Kingdom, His Royal Highness Ezie Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, JP, Kpoke 1 of Ekeluogo Autonomous Community.
Born on July 5, 1940, Ugoeze Nne Ojingwa Ukoha was celebrated by sons, daughters, friends, and well-wishers of Ebem Ohafia, who described her as a mother, pillar of peace, and symbol of wisdom in the community.
The royal residence, located off Ihenta Road in Ebem Ohafia, was filled with pomp and celebration as guests gathered to honour her life, motherhood, and contributions to the unity and wellbeing of the community.
The event attracted several dignitaries and groups, including Inyom Ebem Worldwide, led by Chief Mrs. Ucha Ajaka; the Ebem Ohafia Development Union Central Executive Council, led by Chief Engr. Uduma Olugu Iroha and represented by Chief Ogwo Ukpola Eke, popularly known as Triple; the Ebem Ohafia Chiefs and Elders-in-Council, led by the Traditional Prime Minister; clergymen led by Rev. Amb. Emma Inyima; as well as community leaders, women groups, and other well-wishers.
The event was anchored by Chief Ifeanyi Okali, who kept the ceremony lively and orderly throughout the celebration.
One of the most memorable moments of the occasion came when the monarch shared the story of his long relationship with his wife.
Addressing the gathering, HRH Ezie Ukoha Kalu Ukoha recalled that he met Ugoeze in 1957 while they were still in primary school.
“We met in 1957 during our primary school days. We did not hide our relationship, and throughout our courtship, we were open with our parents and friends. We got married on Saturday, December 26, 1970, and today we are blessed with 13 grandchildren,” the monarch said.
He expressed gratitude to God Almighty for His love, kindness, protection, and faithfulness to his family, particularly for granting his wife another year in good health and sound mind.
The royal father also thanked the people of Ebem Ohafia for their continued love and support for the royal family, describing the turnout as a demonstration of the unity and strong communal spirit that exist among the people.
He appreciated the chiefs, elders, clergy, women, youth groups, and all guests who attended the celebration, noting that their presence made the occasion memorable.
The ceremony featured prayers, music, goodwill messages, and moments of thanksgiving, as speakers praised Ugoeze Nne Ojingwa Ukoha for her humility, wisdom, motherly care, and support for the traditional institution.
Guests prayed that God would continue to bless her with long life, good health, joy, and abundant grace.
The celebration once again highlighted the rich culture, love, unity, and respect for elders that define the Ebem Ohafia community.
