Former Abia State lawmaker, Hon. Chukwudi Apugo, has revealed that his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) was largely influenced by the leadership style of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu.
Speaking on Political Perspective on ABN TV, Apugo, who is also aspiring for the seat for Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency, said Kalu’s inclusive approach and grassroots engagement convinced him to align with the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, “His pattern of politicking, reaching out to people, engaging stakeholders, and bringing everyone on board is what attracted me.”
Apugo dismissed claims that his defection was driven by personal ambition, insisting that his decision was based on leadership values and the desire to contribute meaningfully to development.
