The Headquarters of the 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, Ohafia, has issued a public advisory notifying residents of Ohafia and neighbouring communities in Abia State of an upcoming day and night shooting exercise.

According to a press release signed by Captain Muyiwa Ayara on behalf of the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the exercise is part of activities marking the 82 Division Corporals and Below Competition 2026.

The shooting competition is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Shooting Range, Ohafia, from 12:00 noon to 11:00 pm.

The Nigerian Army explained that the exercise is a routine training aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency, marksmanship, and combat readiness of participating soldiers.

Residents have been advised not to panic at the sound of gunshots, as all activities will be conducted in a controlled and secure environment.

For safety reasons, the Army strongly warned members of the public to stay away from the shooting range and avoid unauthorized movement within and around the designated training area throughout the duration of the exercise.

The public was also urged to strictly adhere to all instructions and warnings issued by military personnel and relevant authorities.

The Nigerian Army reassured citizens of its commitment to the protection of lives and property, while appealing for continued cooperation and understanding from the public.
