The Ohafia Traditional Rulers Council has appealed for peace and restraint among all stakeholders involved in the ongoing electioneering process of the Ohafia Improvement Union (OIU).

In a statement issued on December 4, 2025, and signed by the Chairman, HRH Eze U. K. Ukoha (JP), and Secretary, HRH Eze Elder Dr. Ezera U. Ezera (JP), the Council expressed concern over what it described as a “resurgence of mistrust” and rising tension as preparations for the Union’s electoral activities gather momentum.

According to the Royal Fathers, they have been inundated with calls and representations from notable indigenes seeking clarification on their position regarding recent developments. The Council, however, reiterated its unwavering stance of strict neutrality, restating that it will not intervene, direct, or supervise any aspect of the electoral process, which it described as purely a Union affair guided by the OIU constitution.

The statement further clarified that no member of the Council has been mandated to monitor or oversee any meeting or activity relating to the election and that any royal figure who has acted otherwise did so without authorization and at their own risk.

Expressing confidence in the ability of OIU members and stakeholders to conduct a free, fair, and credible election, the Council urged all factions to collapse their structures into one body, in line with the peace agreement reached during the tripartite meeting held on October 14, 2025, at the palace of HRH Eze U. K. Ukoha in Ebem Ohafia.

The Royal Fathers reassured the community of their support and blessings, declaring that peace must reign in Ohafia.
