Nnamdi Kanu’s Court Arrival Deliberately Delayed To Prevent Photos — Family Member Alleges

Fresh concerns have emerged over the conduct of the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Federal High Court in Abuja as Mazi Nnamdi Kanu continues his self-representation in his ongoing trial.

Favour Michael Kanu, wife of Prince Emmanuel Kanu, alleged on Tuesday that the DSS has adopted a new strategy to delay Nnamdi Kanu’s entry into the courtroom until the arrival of the presiding judge, deliberately preventing journalists, observers, and supporters from seeing or photographing him.

“New style: they’d delay MNK’s entry into the court till the judge is around, so no one gets to snap or record MNK before the court rises,” she said in a statement.

This claim follows repeated concerns raised by Kanu’s family and legal team regarding transparency in court proceedings, access to legal counsel, and alleged human rights violations in custody.

Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been in detention since 2021 after his controversial rendition from Kenya. He now represents himself in court after discharging his legal team and insists the court has no jurisdiction to try him based on international and domestic legal grounds.
