Jubilation As Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer, Brother, Sowore, Others Released (Video)

There was jubilation in Abuja on Monday evening as Omoyele Sowore, Barr. Aloy Ejimakor (lead counsel to Nnamdi Kanu), Prince Emmanuel Kanu (Kanu’s younger brother), and 12 others were released from Kuje Correctional Centre after meeting their bail conditions.

The group had earlier been detained in connection with their presence at the Federal High Court, Abuja, during the resumed hearing of IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s trial. Their arrest sparked outrage from civil rights advocates, legal observers, and supporters of Kanu, who described the action as a violation of constitutional rights to open trial and legal representation.

ABN TV gathered that after intense legal engagement and swift processing of bail requirements, the 15 individuals were freed from custody, triggering celebrations among their families, supporters, and members of the pro-Biafra community.

Sowore, a prominent activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters, was among those at the court to observe proceedings and show solidarity with Kanu, who has been in detention since 2021 and is now representing himself in the terrorism trial.

Barrister Ejimakor had also recently raised concerns over the treatment of his client in DSS custody and has been at the forefront of legal efforts pushing for Kanu’s transfer to a correctional facility.

Their release marks a moment of relief amid ongoing tensions surrounding the high-profile trial, which continues to attract national and international attention.
