JAMB: Results Released Fresh Opportunities For Affected Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the results of the 2025 UTME resit examination conducted for candidates whose original test sessions were affected by technical disruptions. This marks a significant step forward in ensuring fairness and transparency in the admission process.

Out of the 336,845 candidates scheduled for the resit, the Board noted that 21,082 candidates were absent. While the reasons for this high absence rate remain unclear, JAMB has responded with a positive gesture: all absentees will be given another opportunity to sit for the exam during the upcoming annual mop-up examination, ensuring no one is left behind.

In a statement by the Board’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB highlighted that the resit exercise underwent careful review and validation. A committee, chaired by Prof. Olufemi Peters, Vice Chancellor of the National Open University, collaborated with psychometric experts to ensure the integrity of the process and confirm the authenticity of the results.

As part of JAMB’s continued commitment to fairness, the Board has also announced the release of previously withheld results of under-aged candidates and those involved in minor infractions—excluding those under litigation. While these candidates remain ineligible for admission based on existing policies, this move represents a step towards greater transparency and a second chance for many.

In a further encouraging development, JAMB extended a one-time waiver to candidates involved in online malpractice groups, such as “WhatsApp runs,” by releasing their results as well. This is not an endorsement of misconduct but rather a rare opportunity for those individuals to reflect and realign with proper academic values.

Regarding concerns over the cancelled results in six states, JAMB clarified that there were no high scorers in those sessions, as 99% of candidates scored below 200. This clarification puts to rest speculation and misinformation circulating online. The Board also addressed a viral case involving a falsified result, emphasizing its resolve to uphold truth and integrity.

Finally, JAMB confirmed that all valid results have now been released, with only the results of candidates involved in infractions or scheduled for mop-up exams pending. This latest release signals the Board’s unwavering dedication to upholding standards, while also offering second chances and learning opportunities to all candidates.
