You’re Unseen Pillars Of Nigeria, Hon. Kalu Applauds Widows Of Slain Soldiers

Member representing Bende federal constituency, Hon. Benjamin Kalu has applauded wives of Nigerian soldiers who died fighting for the country, describing them as an unseen pillar of the country’s security.

He made this remark on Tuesday while addressing widows of slain soldiers at the 14 Brigade of Nigerian Army, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks Ohafia Abia State.

According to Hon. Kalu who is the Spokesman of the House Of Representatives, husbands of the widows committed no wrong by presenting themselves to serve the country.

“You committed no wrong by getting married to those courageous men who are brave enough to fight for our security.

“What is government if security of life is taken away from it? The primary purpose of government is to provide the security and welfare of the citizens of the country.

“This means that you occupied about 50 percent of the responsibility of government. On one side is the welfare of the people. On one side is the security of the people.

“When you take this risk, you are fighting for us and we appreciate it so much. The women who release their husbands to go, who hold the home front, you are the pillars of this nation.

“You who are inside, holding the children, giving them courage to go on, providing for the kids, and praying for them.

“When you pray for them you pray for this country, when you hold the home front, you hold the pillars of this country. Though you may not be seen always, though nobody may announce you, though you may not have any ranks attached to your shoulders, in our hearts, we believe you are playing a role which is a national function” he said.

The federal lawmaker also used the opportunity to announce that henceforth, he would be a friend of the Brigade.

While expressing appreciation for the work the military is doing in Abia, he drummed support for the soldiers and their wives.

He also used the opportunity to make a N300,000 donation to widows of late soldiers as well as N200,000 donation to members of Nigeria Army Officers Wives Association in the Brigade.
