Toni Kroos, a Real Madrid midfielder, has slammed former teammate Eden Hazard, stating that the Belgian, who earned £400,000 per week at the Bernabeu, “let his career die” there.
Hazard joined Real Madrid in 2019 for £88 million from Chelsea.
His four-year stay in Spain, however, came to an end last week when Madrid canceled his contract.
Hazard is reportedly mulling retiring at 32, having previously announced his retirement from international football following Belgium’s World Cup campaign in 2022.
Kroos, who has won three LaLiga titles and four Champions Leagues during his nine-year stint at Real Madrid, appeared to make a reference to the Belgian flop while warning Jude Bellingham after his astonishing six-year transfer to the Bernabeu was reported on Wednesday.
“We had another player who came for a lot of money and basically let his career die,” Kroos said on his podcast Einfach mal Luppen.
“It was a lot of money, I think everyone would say that wasn’t a good transfer. But let’s be positive.”
Hazard scored only seven goals in 76 appearances for Real Madrid.
