A chieftain of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA in Abia State, Sir Chikwe Udensi has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for signing into law the Amended Electoral Bill, saying it will end the era of concocted electoral figures from Obingwa local government area of the state and across the country.

There were allegations that the number of votes that gave the incumbent governor Okezie Ikpeazu victory in his Obingwa local government was mischievously over bloated, to the tune of 82,000.

Reacting to the signing of the amended Electoral Act into law by President Muhammadu Buhari, Sir Udensi said the development will bring more credibility into the country’s electoral system.

In a chat with ABN TV on Saturday, he said even though that is not all that is required, it is a step in the right direction.

The Abia governorship aspirant said also commended the leadership of the National Assembly for their resilience in ensuring that the country gets an enhanced legal framework to go into 2023 election.

The amended Act signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday among other things provides for electronic transmission of election results from polling units, making it difficult for manipulation of figures.
