The newly elected clerk of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria South-Central Synod, Very Rev David Ama Kalu has said he will give young people opportunity to showcase their talents in the synod especially in this digital age.

According to Rev. Kalu, the future of the church is in the hands of the young people, adding that they will drive the image of the church.

He spoke in Umuahia on Friday shortly after his election where he emerged victorious with a simple majority to defeat Very Rev. Ukpai Nwoke.

He succeeds Very Rev Isreal Iduma Chukwu, whose four-year tenure comes to an end.

He said, “The future of the church lies in the hands of the youth, whatever foundation that is laid now determines the future of The Presbyterian Church Of Nigeria”.

The cleric expressed optimism that through God’s grace, his leadership will sustain the achievements of his predecessors.

He said the synod is viewed as a pace-setter, noting that he will take it to greater heights.

He also said they will harness the potentials of both the old and young, ensuring that all the spiritual, physical and natural resources are put together to build a stronger synod to the glory of God, assuring that he will do his best never to fail the synod all to the Glory of God.

Also speaking Rt Rev.Chukwuma Kalu Okorie Moderator of South Central Synod said the synod meets once every year so as to discuss the things that concern the synod and their pressing needs.

He described the election as a “landslide victory“adding that there was enough gap between the two nominees.

Rev Amah polled 179 votes to defeat Rev Peter who got 74 votes.

Rev.Iduma Isreal Chukwu, the past synod clerk of South Central Synod said he feels excited and relief because it was not easy for him as a clerk in the synod for four unbroken years, it calls for a lot of sacrifices and contributions adding that he feels more excited because his successor happens to be the kind of person he desires to hand over to as the clerk,and that the delegates of the annual meeting voted according to their consciences which wasn’t adulterated.

He said he believes and have the trust that Rev. Ama will do well to produce excellent results,adding that God will help his successor to do well as he emerges the new clerk.
