The management Saturn communications, owners of Magic 102.9 FM Aba, has finally explained why the third annual Evening of Carols was cancelled.
The company on Tuesday said the COVID-19 outbreak which has led to a limit in number of persons at a public gathering has made it necessary for the 2020 edition of the programme to be called off.
It further said it is in adherence to NCDC protocol and Abia government’s instruction on public gathering.
Addressing newsmen in Umuahia on Tuesday, the Station Manager, Mr. Ikechukwu Agu, who was represented by the Manager, News, Mr. Boni Onogwu, noted that the cancellation of the event which commenced in 2018 has become necessary to keep Abians safe and in adherence to government’s standing rules.

Recall that Magic FM, Aba, since its inception in 2013 has continued to organize series of events.
One such was the Aba Half Marathon which ran consecutively for three years, Valentine Shows, Music Concerts, and in 2018, the highly acclaimed Evening of Carols.
The 2019 edition and second on the roll call held at Abia Polytechnic, Aba, with over 40 Choral groups and solo artistes rendering melodious carols to the admiration of thousands of guests who thronged the venue.
The management of Magic 102.9 FM, Aba expressed optimism that the event will stage a return in December 2021 when the pandemic de-escalates.
