Why I Brought Lampard Back To Chelsea After Potter’s Sack – Boehly

Chelsea co-owner, Todd Boehly has explained why Frank Lampard has returned to the club on an interim basis until the end of this season.

In a statement on the club’s official website, Boehly said “As we continue our thorough and exhaustive process for a permanent head coach, we want to provide the club and our fans with a clear and stable plan for the remainder of the season.

“We want to give ourselves every chance of success and Frank has all of the characteristics and qualities we need to drive us to the finish line.”

Lampard took charge of training today and his first game will be away to Wolves on Saturday.

Next week, Chelsea will face Real Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final.

Lampard was sacked as the Blues manager in January 2021 and replaced by Thomas Tuchel.

Boehly then fired Tuchel in September 2022 before dismissing Graham Potter last Sunday.
