West Will Seek New Ways To Put Pressure On Russia, It Should Be Opposed – PM Mishustin

The West will seek new ways to put pressure on Russia and reduce its revenues, it is necessary to be prepared for any development of the situation and work out solutions to mitigate the negative consequences by continuing a responsible budget policy, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on Friday at a meeting on the 2022 federal budget execution.

“Of course, the collective West will look for new opportunities to put pressure on Russia, to seek to reduce our revenues. We need to be ready for any development of the situation, to work out solutions that will minimise the negative effects, while continuing to pursue a responsible budget policy,” the Russian government chairman said.

Mishustin pointed out that “it is important to accurately and qualitatively target program expenditures, to maintain a balance between aid measures and preservation of financial and price stability.” Certain results of implementation of such an approach, according to the prime minister, are already present at the current stage: this includes support of demand in a number of areas due to the retention of concessional rates and reduction of the cost of loans in general, and a gradual slowdown in inflation. According to him, this trend will strengthen in the future.

“The continuation of this policy will create the necessary basis for the resumption of sustainable development of our economy after the end of the adaptation period, even under unprecedented external pressure,” Mishustin summarized.
