We’re Ready To Partner With America To Wipe Out Terrorists In Nigeria — FG

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with the United States and other international partners to eliminate terrorists and criminal elements threatening the nation’s peace and stability.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known on Wednesday during a world press conference in Abuja, where he addressed recent concerns over Nigeria’s security situation and foreign reactions to it.

Idris stated that while the government acknowledges ongoing security challenges, they are not targeted at any religion or ethnic group, contrary to narratives being spread through “faulty and misleading data.”

“Nigeria is willing to work with international bodies, including the United States, to ensure that criminals and terrorists are permanently wiped out,” the minister said. “We welcome support from our international partners to deal decisively with the menace of insecurity.”

The minister emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully committed to ending terrorism and restoring peace across the country, citing notable progress in Nigeria’s Global Terrorism Index ranking and the recent restructuring of security service leadership as clear indicators of his administration’s resolve.

Idris further stressed that President Tinubu is engaging global allies to strengthen intelligence sharing, border security, and counter-terror operations.

“Nigeria is not denying that we have serious security challenges. What we are saying is that President Tinubu is confronting them head-on, with renewed strategy and international cooperation,” he added.

The minister also addressed the recent remarks by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who threatened possible military action in Nigeria over the alleged persecution of Christians. Idris dismissed the claim as inaccurate and politically charged, insisting that insecurity in Nigeria affects citizens across all faiths and regions.

“The Nigerian government and people have taken note of the U.S. stance on alleged human rights violations. But let it be clear — our fight is against terrorists and criminals, not against any religion,” he said.

The Tinubu administration, according to Idris, will continue to pursue peace, security, and unity with global cooperation, while maintaining Nigeria’s sovereignty and commitment to human rights.
