Embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari will be offered Legal representation in the US once he is extradited to face charges for his crimes.

The US justice Department revealed that Kyari will be facing the charges filed in 2021 but declined to speak further on the process of his extradition.

In an email response, Thom Mrozek, the Director of media relations of the United States Attorney’s Office said,

We will not have any comment in relation to a pending extradition request for any defendant.”

“In relation to Mr Kyari, he already faces charges that we filed last year in Los Angeles after a federal grand jury issued an indictment.”

Kyari, a popular police officer in Nigeria was suspended by the Inspector- General of Police, Usman Baba in July 2021 over his alleged involvement in a $1.1 million Internet fraud allegedly perpetrated by disgraced fraudster, Ramon Olorunwa Abass a.k.a Hushpuppi.

Kyari is currently in detention after the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency declared his wanted for attempting to bribe an official of the agency with $61,000 to facilitate the release of seized cocaine. He was arrested by the police on February 14th, 2022.

The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, in a statement by his Media Aide, Umar Gwandu, last week revealed that the Nigerian Government was ready to extradite Kyari.

The NDLEA filed eight counts against Kyari before a Federal High Court on Monday and that Kyari would be arraigned on March 7.
