A cross-section of stakeholders from Ikwuano and Umuahia Federal Constituency have pledged to deliver at least 60 percent of votes for the re-election of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, in the 2027 general elections.
The assurance was given on Friday during a grand civic reception held in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, in honour of the Governor, where community leaders, political stakeholders, and prominent personalities gathered to commend his administration’s performance.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning and Chairman of the Planning Committee, Hon. Kingsley Anosike, lauded Governor Otti for what he described as transformative leadership that has repositioned Umuahia from a “glorified village” to one of the fastest-growing state capitals in Nigeria.
He noted that the Governor’s developmental strides have restored dignity and pride among Abians, assuring that the people of Umuahia and Ikwuano remain resolute in their support for his administration and future political aspirations.
Also addressing the gathering, the Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and member representing Umuahia East State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Augustine Nmeregini, commended the Governor for fostering a strong working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government. According to him, the synergy has enhanced effective governance and responsiveness to the needs of the people.
In his remarks, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Barr. Monday Ubani, praised Governor Otti for rekindling hope across the state through impactful projects. He cited the reconstruction of the Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road as a clear demonstration of the administration’s commitment to infrastructural development without excuses.
Other dignitaries, including Ambassador Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi, son of Nigeria’s first military Head of State, and High Chief Victor Ikeji of the Federal Character Commission, also applauded the Governor’s achievements, particularly in the areas of education and healthcare. They noted that governance in Abia has witnessed a significant turnaround under his leadership.
The stakeholders collectively described Governor Otti as one of the most impactful governors in Nigeria, highlighting ongoing and proposed projects such as the planned 250-room five-star hotel in Umuahia, alongside other critical infrastructure, as initiatives that will further transform the state capital.
Responding, Governor Alex Otti reiterated his administration’s commitment to people-oriented governance, stressing that leadership must be driven by service rather than personal interest. He assured residents that all ongoing projects would be completed, adding that his government remains focused on delivering quality development across all sectors.
The event marked a significant show of political support and endorsement for the Governor ahead of the 2027 elections.
