Few Weeks After Announcing Interest To Conduct LG Election, Ikpeazu Appoints Prof. Mkpa To Head ABSIEC

The Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has appointed a former Secretary to Abia State Government (SSG), Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa as chairman, Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC), ABN TV reports.

Prof. Mkpa is also a former Vice-Chancellor of the Abia State University Uturu (ABSU).
This is contained in a statement signed by the Chief of Staff to Governor, Dr A.C.B Agbazuere and made available to ABN TV on Saturday.
The release also added that the name of Prof Mkpa Agu Mkpa has been forwarded to the Abia State House of Assembly for confirmation as required by extant laws.
The Governor had last month announced that his government will conduct local government election after pressure from the opposition political parties.
