Abia State Governor, Alex C. Otti, has paid glowing tribute to fallen Nigerian service personnel, describing them as symbols of courage whose sacrifices continue to preserve the country’s democracy and territorial integrity.
Addressing a solemn gathering at the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day, Otti said the Nigerian Armed Forces represent the “practical ideals of our dream country,” having evolved into a stabilizing force for democratic governance.
He noted that the ceremony was not only a moment of remembrance but also an opportunity for Nigerians to express collective gratitude to men and women in uniform who, in his words, “fear nothing, even death, if it serves a higher purpose.”
The Governor led tributes in honor of officers and personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty over the past year in Abia State, naming Lance Corporals Aminu Sani, Muazu Abdullahi, George Sylvanus, and OSED Baba.
Otti reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the families of the deceased, announcing continued welfare packages, including scholarships for the children of fallen officers and sustained assistance for their spouses.
