Voting commenced early Saturday in parts of Anambra State, with INEC officials and materials arriving at several polling units in Umunze, Orumba South LGA, and Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA, around 8:00 a.m.
At multiple centres, officials briefed voters on proper voting procedures before pasting registers for easy identification.
Accreditation and voting began smoothly in several locations, though a few areas, such as All Saints Primary School, Onitsha: experienced slow starts.
Security presence was visible across polling stations. However, in Awka and Onitsha, some commercial vehicles operated despite a restriction of movement order.
Light activity in some neighbourhoods were observed with roadside shops open and youths playing football, signalling lukewarm interest in the election.
Meanwhile, polling units in Okpuno and Mgbakwu recorded modest turnout as residents gradually arrived to vote.
