Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti says palliatives received from the federal government to douse hardship and hunger across the country has been distributed among the vulnerable people in wards and local governments in the state as well as lower ranks of civil servants from GL 1-7.

Responding to a question on Friday in Umuahia during his monthly engagement with Abians, on the 20 trucks of rice purportedly released to Abia and each of the 36 states of the federation, the governor said he cannot speak to the 20 trucks of rice being referred to but noted that palliatives are released from time to time.

Anything that is given to Abia is received and the sharing like I reported here is done mostly to the most vulnerable in all our wards and local governments“, he said.

He also said the extension to civil servants from GL 1-7 was done earlier in the year, expressing hope that it was delivered to them.

The governor also expressed the willingness of his administration to continue to support Abians in their various endeavours to improve their livelihoods.

According to him, his government recently distributed the sum of N1bn interest free revolving loan to ten thousand small businesses in the state.

These and other efforts he noted are geared towards reducing poverty and making Abians have access to economic opportunities.
