VIDEO: Governor Otti Will Support Candidates Outside LP In Nov. LG Poll — Aide

Ahead of the November 2 local government elections in Abia, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Hon. Ferdinand Ekeoma says his principal will support candidates outside of his party, the Labour Party (LP).

This comes on the heels of a report that the governor is courting with the Zenith Labour Party as the crisis in Labour Party continues.

Ekeoma, while speaking on ABN TV’s Political Perspective admitted that the Labour Party in Abia State is embroiled in crisis but stated that irrespective of the political alignment of those who will be supported by the governor in the elections, they will emerge victorious.

This comes few weeks after the governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara of PDP held a local government election in which a majority of winners emerged from outside his party.

Analysts have said such amounts to anti-party activities, a path which the Abia governor is equally toeing.

Ekeoma clarified that primaries are intra-party activities governed by electoral laws, requiring party members to participate or challenge outcomes.

He highlighted the Labour Party’s focus on consensus-building and stakeholder engagement, emphasizing transparency and merit-based candidate selection.

Ekeoma responded to allegations of unfair primary processes, citing instances where stakeholders resolved issues through dialogue.

He encouraged aspirants to lobby stakeholders, emphasizing politics as “about lobbying and consultations.”

He reaffirmed allegiance to the Labour Party, dispelling defection rumors.
