VIDEO: Darlington Nwokocha Remains Abia Central Senator — Labour Party

The Abia State chapter of Labour Party has decried the sacking of the Senator representing Abia Central, Sen. Darlington Nwokocha by the Court of Appeal, saying it is a judicial rascality.

Addressing newsmen in Umuahia on Sunday, the party said it is in shock that the Senator was sacked over matters of internal affairs of the Labour Party, which he said the judiciary cannot adjudicate on.

The state chairman of Labour Party, Ceekay Igara said there are a plethora of judgements from the Supreme Court, which bars adjudication on issues of political party internal affairs.

We are more shocked by the rascality of the judiciary, especially muscling judgements, divisive judgements“, he said.

According to him, the judgement of the Appeal Court which reversed the sacking of Hon. Amobi Ogah representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency by-election petition tribunal was based on section 77 of the constitution.

Look at that of Obi Aguocha, look at that of Ginger Onwusibe“, he added.

He wondered where the Appeal Court judge who voided the election of Nwokocha derived his power from,

He said the judgement was “smuggled”, calling for the immediate release of the judgement.

The party accused the Appeal Court of changing the will of the people and imposing on the people what is not their wish.

It says Sen. Nwokocha has not been removed and remains a member of the Senate, stating that the litigation was based on section 77 which no court can adjudicate on.

Why should this one (judge) be the only one after giving the first judgement reversed himself ten minutes later?

“Since all the judgement of that day was based on section 77, he should reverse himself again. We know Sen. Darlington has not been removed. He remains our only Senator for Abia Central“, he stated.

He applauded the judiciary for remaining firm, expressing hope that the current situation will be dealt with.
