VIDEO: Abians Asking God To Use PDP As Tool To Recover Our State — Ex-Governor Ikpeazu

Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu the cry of the poor and the downtrodden in the state has reached God, claiming that they are asking God to use his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to recover the state.

PDP lost the 2023 election in the state to Labour Party’s Alex Otti who was sworn-in in May 29 as Ikpeazu’s successor.

At a stakeholders meeting of the party in Umuahia the state capital on Thursday, Ikpeazu who lost his bid to represent Abia South Senatorial District said the party is not leaving the leadership of the state to anyone but committed to recovering it.

Speaking in his Ngwa native language, Ikpeazu said the party is still strong, despite the mass defection that has hit it.

He said the defection will not affect its strength, urging members to ignore those who have left as their absence cannot be felt.

He therefore urged “grassrooters” to remain firm in their various domains.

“I know you people and I also know those who have left the party. If you are with us, nothing is wrong with our party. What makes a man is what he is made of. Giving a man a position does not make him a man. You can put your wife in a position, it doesn’t make her a man. An evil man is an evil man. Whatever they have benefitted from the PDP, they can leave with it. What is left will be enough for us“, he stated.

He expressed hope that the party will be rebuilt for stronger exploits.

Top among those who left the party recently was son of former governor of the state and immediate past Speaker, Chinedum Orji.
