US Slams Attack Of Cameroonian Soldiers In Lake Chad Basin

The United States has strongly denounced the murder of Cameroonian soldiers who were serving in the Multinational Joint Task Force in Nigeria’s Lake Chad Basin.

In a statement on Wednesday, the US Embassy in Yaoundé expressed condolences to Cameroon, describing the attack as a “heinous” act of terrorism.

The statement read, “The United States Embassy in Youande condemns the heinous March 24 terrorist attack against Cameroonian soldiers serving in Nigeria in support of the Multinational Joint Taskforce in the Lake Chad Basin.

“On behalf of the American people, we extend our deepest condolences for the tragic loss of Cameroonian soldiers who lost their lives in defense of Cameroon and the region.”

The statement commended their sacrifice for the safety and security of the region

The statement added, “The dedication and sacrifice of these soldiers in the fight against terrorism stand as a powerful testament to their unwavering commitment to the safety and security of Cameroon and the region.

On March 24, Boko Haram insurgents attacked a military base in Wolgo, Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State, killing dozens of soldiers in a gun battle.
