Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has announced his victory in the U.S. presidential election on Wednesday after securing a critical win in the battleground state of Pennsylvania.
The swing state’s electoral votes pushed Trump past the threshold needed for victory.
However, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris was yet to concede at her Washington, D.C. headquarters, as incoming results showed Trump ahead in the electoral college vote count.
A candidate needs 270 electoral votes to win the presidency, though an official result typically requires one of the candidates to concede. With Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina in his column, Trump declared himself the victor, while Harris’s camp remained silent.
