Umuahia North local government area of Abia State has placed a ban in loading and offloading of commercial vehicles in strategic locations in the council.
This is with the aim of regulating traffic and ensuring public safety while maintaining a clean environment, Mayor of the Council, Hon. High-Chief Victor lkeji said in a statement on Friday.
The affected areas are, Ishi-gate, Slot axis, Plaza, Item, Ohafia, Warri, Lagos and Eket Streets.
The Mayor also warned that contravening this policy will attract serious sanction, including impounding any vehicle involved.
He said, “All commercial vehicles are advised to use the temporal loading bay at Ishi-gate adjacent to Trademoore Properties for their operations.
“Any vehicle caught contravening this order will be impounded .
“This order takes immediate effect and will be enforced by the appropriate authorities”.
