….Resolve to Ensure Massive Registration in APC
Ukwa West All Progressives Congress, APC, stakeholders have condemned the composition of the Caucuses of the Local Government and the Abia South Senatorial zone, recently announced by the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the Ukwa West APC, and the Chairman of the Abia South Senatorial zone.
They also embraced the reunification of the Ukwa West APC, which according to them was extremely necessary for a total consolidation of the party, stressing that there was no more anything called factions in the Ukwa West APC.
In a communiqué released during a meeting held yesterday at the Success Hotel, Umuelechi, Asa, in the Ukwa West Local Government Area, the stakeholders numbering forty-four, among whom were the Deputy Chairman, Abia State APC Caretaker Committee, Chief Ogunka Adiele John, House of Representatives flag bearer of the APC during the last election, Mr. Felix Chinedu Nworgu, immediate past Commissioner of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Chief Nwogu N. Nwogu, House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in the 2019 elections, Eze Lucky Nwoloki, who recently defected to the APC, the immediate past Transition Committee Chairman of the Local Government Area, Chief Sylvanus Nwaji, and six Ward Chairmen, contended that it was an aberration, considering the fact that the selections were done without consultations with the State Caretaker and critical stakeholders of the Ukwa West APC.

The communiqué reads in part,
“We, as critical stakeholders of the APC in the Ukwa West Local Government of Abia State, consider it a duty to highlight some anomalies that have been going on in the party, which if remained unchecked will jeopardise the interest of the party. It is absurd and politically inexpedient for two persons to have been selected from a particular Ward in view of the need for equitable spread across the Wards, as canvassed by the Constitution of the party.
“We also condemn, very vehemently, the exclusion from the LG Caucus of former members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, who have recently joined the APC, and see it as a manifestation of the obvious lack of focus, direction, and foresight on the part of the LG party Chairman.
“We also condemn very strongly the composition of the Abia South Caucus of the APC, which failed to recognise the fact that in any political arrangement in Abia South, positions should be shared between Ukwa and Ngwa in a manner that does not subjugate the interest of either political bloc.
“We make bold as to say that since the position of the Chairman of the Abia South APC Caucus went to the Ngwa political clan, the 1st Vice Chairman and Secretary of the Caucus should have been zoned to Ukwa.
We, therefore, state very categorically that the Abia South APC Caucus, as it is presently constituted, is unacceptable to the Ukwa West APC”.
It continues, “We hereby call on the leadership of the party at the State level to call the Ukwa West APC Caretaker Committee Chairman to order before it is too late, as his continued disregard of the party structure may lead to an implosion of the party in the local government area. A situation whereby the Chairman would question the authority of the State Deputy Chairman to call a meeting of the party is not only preposterous but highly condemnable”
The communiqué concludes, “.However, we remain resolute on ensuring great mobilisation of Ukwa people towards massive registration with the APC”.
