The UK coronavirus death toll has risen to 1,228 after 209 more deaths were announced today.
There are currently 19,522 in Britain who have tested positive for Covid-19.
In a statement, The Department of Health said: “As of 9 am on 29 March 2020, a total of 127,737 people have been tested, of which 108,215 were confirmed negative and 19,522 were confirmed positive.
“As of 5 pm on 28 March 2020, 1,228 patients in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have died.”

Today’s rise is smaller than yesterday’s, which saw 260 people die in the UK’s biggest 24-hour surge so far.
NHS England said today that 190 more people who tested positive for coronavirus in England have died, bringing the country’s total to 1,125.
Patients were aged between 39 and 105 years old and all but four patients had underlying health conditions.
Public Health Wales said today that 10 more people have died in Wales, bringing the country’s total to 48.
One more death was recorded in Scotland and six more were recorded in Northern Ireland – bringing the countries’ overall death tolls to 41 and 21 respectively.
To date, 1,384 people in Scotland have tested positive for the virus, up 139 from 1,245 on Saturday.
The number of people in Wales with the virus sits at 1,241 while in England 16,487 people have the bug.
The number of people to have tested positive in Northern Ireland is lower, at 410.
‘THINGS WILL GET WORSE’
This week, the Prime Minister will send a letter to all British households, warning the situation will “get worse before it gets better”.
Boris, who is self-isolating after testing positive for Covid-19 wrote: “It’s important for me to level with you — we know things will get worse before they get better.
“But we are making the right preparations and the more we all follow the rules, the fewer lives will be lost and the sooner life can return to normal.”
He also warns that further lockdown measures could be enforced if needed, writing: “We will not hesitate to go further if that is what the scientific and medical advice tells us we must do.”
