Udensi Says SARS Synonymous With Rot, Degeneration, Exits In All Sectors

The lead Interpol Systems Consultant in Nigeria, Sir Chikwe Udensi has said the recent #EndSARS protest connotes many things wrong with Nigerian society.

ABN TV reports that Udensi said the disbanded Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) a unit of the Nigerian police was known for corruption, extra-judicial killings and other rots, saying SARS operatives exist in many sectors of our national life.

“SARS is supposed to be a unit of the Nigerian police. But today, we have SARS in the Immigration Service, we have SARS in civil service, there is SARS in virtually everywhere.

“What it connotes is the bad state of our society and what is wrong with our society. SARS epitomizes it” he said in a chat with ABN TV on Saturday.

He faulted the government’s decision to allow the protests linger for a long time without taking action.

“When this demonstration started, I was wondering who was advising the government. When you see people who are angry on the street, the first thing to do is to secure critical infrastructure.

“Today, we are told over 60 persons were killed. If the government had come out, this number of people wouldn’t have died. There are those we know as risk managers in every establishment, Nigeria doesn’t have it.

“When the #EndSARS protests took place, you don’t send people who will aggravate the situations but crisis managers” he insisted.

He stated that the country has round pegs in round holes, adding that the security advisers did not act swiftly which led to the destruction of private and public facilities.

Udensi advised youths across the country especially Abia to exercise restraint and avoid the destruction of assets irrespective of their disappointment and frustration.
