The University of Benin Comrades Community (UCC) has congratulated Dr. Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor, an alumnae of the institution, on her appointment as the Director-General of the Edo State Diaspora Agency (ESDA) by the State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
In a statement on Wednesday signed by the group’s Publicity Secretary, Ogochukwu Isioma, UCC described Dr. Ogboro-Okor’s appointment as “a formal recognition of her unwavering dedication, vast expertise, and relentless passion for service.”
A distinguished United Kingdom-trained Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Medical Simulator Expert, Prolific Writer, and United Nations Eminent Ambassador, the new ESDA DG has consistently demonstrated excellence in both medicine and humanitarian service.
“Her remarkable contributions, particularly in the areas of diaspora engagement, migration policies, and human development, have positioned her as a beacon of hope and progress for Edo indigenes worldwide,” UCC Chairman, Dr. Malachi Ezegbogu was quoted as saying.
“As a proud alumnae of the University of Benin and the President of the University of Benin Alumni Association United Kingdom (UBAAUK), Dr. Ogboro-Okor embodies the core values of our great institution—excellence, resilience, and service to humanity.
“We are confident that in her new role, she will bring her wealth of experience, visionary leadership, and unyielding commitment to the advancement of Edo indigenes in the diaspora. Her prior role as the lead of the Edo Diaspora Working Group and the Edo State Focus Group Worldwide, alongside her contributions to the establishment of the ESDA, further proves her readiness to drive impactful policies and initiatives,” the UCC Chairman added.
Isioma, on behalf of the Executive Council and Members of UCC worldwide, pledged the group’s support for ESDA under Dr. Ogboro-Okor, adding, “we look forward to meaningful collaborations that will further empower our people, foster global engagement, and position Edo State for greater opportunities on the international stage.”
