Two Weeks After Election, Abia Councilor Reported Dead

In about two weeks after his election, the councilor representing Umuaku Ward 2 (Umunneochi LGA) of Abia State has been reported dead.

Hon. Agu Onyekachi Charles was elected along with other council officials in the December 18, 2020, local government election that took place in Abia State.

A Facebook user, Obika Abuchi Zuma wrote, “The just elected Honourable councilor representing Umuaku Ward 2 (Umunneochi LGA) is reported dead.

“What sad news to all of us from Umuaku Isuochi.

“Hon Agu Onyekachi Charles go well my beloved brother”.

Speaking with ABN TV on the councillor’s death, the chairman Umunneochi local government area, Hon. Ifeanyi Madu described him as a young man with a vision.

According to the chairman, the late councilor died in a ghastly motor accident on his way back from Enugu.

He said the entire local government is in a mourning mood over the death which he said was shocking.

He expressed sadness that the late Councillor could not stay to enjoy the fruit of his labour after touring round his ward canvassing for votes that later brought him to power.

He called on the family of the bereaved to accept the loss though painful, saying only God knows the best.
