Twitter Suspends Hundeyin’s Account Over Post On Tinubu’s Citizenship

On Saturday, David Hundeyin, a prominent Nigerian investigative journalist, was blocked on Twitter for posting personal information on President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Hundeyin’s account was suspended just days after he claimed Tinubu held dual citizenship in Nigeria and Guinea.

Hundeyin, a noted Peter Obi supporter, alleged that the country’s president-elect may have lied.

Hundeyin confirmed the suspension of his Twitter account on his blog, writing that his account had been reported for “posting private information” and was “temporarily locked.”

“You may not publish or post other people’s private information unless they expressly authorize and permit you to do so.” We also prohibit threatening or bribing people to divulge private information,” Twitter’s Private information and media policy states.

Meanwhile, while supporting Tinubu, Nigeria’s Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, stated the country’s constitution allowed for dual citizenship, disputing Hundeyin’s assertion.

“The last time I checked, I think the Nigerian constitution allows you to have dual citizenship, doesn’t it?” Fashola asked in an interview with Channels Television on Sunday.

“What does his citizenship have to do with the results of the election?” He inquired.
