Turkey Accuses Israel Of Using Famine As Weapon In Gaza

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday strongly criticized Israel, accusing it of deliberately inflicting famine on the people of Gaza and comparing the situation to atrocities worse than those seen in Nazi concentration camps.

Speaking at a press conference in Ankara, Erdogan said, “Israel’s use of hunger as a weapon, especially against Palestinians, is the clearest indication that they have not taken any share of humanity.”

He continued, “Images coming from Gaza are far worse, more brutal, and more inhumane than those from Nazi camps. A people is being killed by hunger and thirst before the eyes of the world.”

The Turkish leader’s comments come amid growing international alarm over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The World Food Programme (WFP), UNICEF, and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) have jointly warned that Gaza is “on the brink of a full-scale famine” and urged urgent action as conditions worsen.

Erdogan reiterated his longstanding position, labelling Israel a “terrorist state” and accusing it of committing genocide against Palestinians. He said the country was subjecting “our Gazan brothers … to genocide”.

His remarks reflect Turkey’s increasingly vocal stance on the Gaza conflict and its condemnation of Israeli military actions and blockades that have restricted access to food, water, and medical supplies.
