Tsunami: Former Imo Deputy Speaker Quits PDP

A former deputy speaker of the Imo state House of Assembly, Ugonna Ozurigbo has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Hon. Ozurigbo a two-time member who represented Nwangele/ Nkwerre/Isu/ Njaba Federal constituency in a resignation letter addressed to his ward chairman said the decision came after consultation.

A sweeping resignation has hit the PDP in Imo and the neighbouring Abia in recent weeks.

Last week, a former governor of the state, Emeka Ihedioha announced his exit but did not state his new political family.

Ozurigbo said his resignation is as a result of incompatible differences within the party.

He said, “I have come to that decisive moment I had never wished, as I am constrained by circumstances defined by hard truths, incompatible differences within the PDP party and after due consultations with stakeholders to inform you that, I have resigned my membership of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)”.

Ozurigbo didn’t announce the party he will be joining.
