Pres. Trump stood in front of St. John’s Episcopal Church and held a Bible for a photo-op.
In order to clear the way for Trump, D.C. police shot tear gas, fired rubber bullets, and forcefully pushed the peaceful crowds back.
The move has been condemned by multiple prominent church leaders.
Presiding Bishop Michael Curry accused Trump of using ‘a church building and the Holy Bible for partisan political purposes’.
Rev. Mariann Budde, the Episcopal bishop of Washington, said that ‘everything he has said and done is to inflame violence. We need moral leadership, and he’s done everything to divide us.’
