Trump Eyes Third Term, Says Funds Already Available

Donald Trump has raised questions about his ability to use funds raised for a potential future political campaign, citing the constitutional limit of two presidential terms.

Speaking to Congressional Republicans in Miami on Monday, Trump remarked, “I’ve raised a lot of money for the next race that I assume I can’t use for myself, but I’m not 100 percent sure.”

His comments drew laughter as he added, “I think I’m not allowed to run again, but I’m not sure. Am I, Mike?” referring to Republican House Leader Mike Johnson, according to AFP.

The funds in question highlight Trump’s continued political clout and his ability to garner financial support, even after completing two terms in office.

Trump’s presidency was historic, making him only the second U.S. president to serve two non-consecutive terms.

The money raised reflects his popularity within the Republican Party and his continued influence in shaping the political conversation about his potential future role.

Although the U.S. Constitution’s 22nd Amendment prohibits presidents from serving more than two terms, a Republican lawmaker recently introduced a resolution to amend the Constitution, potentially paving the way for Trump to run again.

Trump’s remarks underscore his ongoing focus on his political legacy and his ability to mobilize financial support, regardless of the constitutional restrictions.

The former president has often joked about extending his time in office. At a Nevada rally, he humorously stated, “It will be the greatest honor of my life to serve not once but twice—or three times or four times.”
