A Manhattan grand jury has indicted Donald Trump, making him the first former President of the United States to face formal charges.
The charges will be made public in the following days when the grand jury’s judgment is scheduled to be released.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday evening that Trump’s counsel had been contacted.
The office wants Trump, 76, to turn himself up to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office “for arraignment on a Supreme Court indictment.”
Even though it is still under seal, prosecutors stated that guidance will be provided once the arraignment date is set.
Trump is suspected of making hush payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, aka Stephanie Clifford, through his lawyer Michael Cohen.
The businessman allegedly paid Daniels not to go public with the claim that they had an affair. Trump has denied an amorous relationship.
Reacting to the indictment, the former President said he was being persecuted by those against making America great.
“This is Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history.
“The Radical Left Democrats have been engaged in a witch-hunt to destroy the Make America Great Again movement,” Trump declared.
