Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North East (Operation HADIN KAI – OPHK) have eliminated 12 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Borno State and recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition during a series of coordinated operations.
According to a statement by the OPHK Media Information Officer, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, the night-to-dawn offensive at Bula Dalo forced surviving insurgents to flee in disarray. The troops recovered four AK-47 rifles, a PKT anti-aircraft gun, a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, and a multiple grenade launcher from the scene.
Lt. Col. Uba added that in a separate targeted strike on the Garno terrorist camp, troops neutralised six more insurgents, destroyed key life-support facilities, and seized additional PKT anti-aircraft ammunition, further crippling the terrorists’ operational capacity.
Meanwhile, Sector 2 troops in Sabon Gari, Damboa Local Government Area, came under a coordinated ISWAP assault supported by armed drones in the early hours of January 29, 2025. Although the attackers briefly breached part of the defensive line, reinforcement troops quickly countered the offensive and restored full control of the area.
Sadly, a number of soldiers and Civilian Joint Task Force members lost their lives during the fierce encounter, while an excavator and lowbed truck were damaged by drone strikes.
Lt. Col. Uba reaffirmed the military’s resolve to sustain operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement and ensuring the safety of local communities across the North East.
The series of successful offensives, he noted, highlight OPHK’s commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and maintaining lasting peace in the region.
