Troops Crush Terrorists In Borno, Kill Six In Fierce Firefight

Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) operating in Borno State have successfully repelled a terrorist attack on Mallam Fatori, eliminating six insurgents and forcing others to flee with heavy casualties.

The daring attack occurred on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, when armed terrorists launched an assault involving mortars and armed drones against the military base. According to military sources, the troops swiftly mobilized reinforcements from the main Sector 3 formation, engaging the assailants in a fierce gun battle that lasted several hours.

During the encounter, some members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and soldiers sustained injuries, but the military overpowered the terrorists and recovered a cache of weapons and explosives. Items recovered from the scene included five AK-47 rifles, eight magazines, 258 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 39 other rounds, five RPG bombs, four armed drone bombs, 36 hand grenades, two bandoliers, and an Android phone believed to contain operational data.

Reports indicate that the terrorists’ comrades evacuated several corpses as they retreated through the Tumbuns waterways. In a follow-up operation, the Nigerien Air Force conducted precision airstrikes on the fleeing insurgents, further neutralizing additional suspects and destroying their escape routes.

Military sources said the troops’ morale remains high, with MNJTF aerial platforms providing real-time surveillance, evacuation of the wounded, and reinforcement support. All injured personnel are reportedly in stable condition.

As of the time of filing this report, clearance operations were ongoing across the waterways and surrounding settlements to flush out remnants of the fleeing terrorists.
