Tragedy Strikes As FMC Staff Member Takes Own Life In Ogun

On Sunday, Adeniyi Oluwaseun, Abeokuta, and Idi-Aba, the acting head of the audit department at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), jumped into a well to end their lives.

Vanguard reliably gathered that the incident occurred in the Obantoko area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, shortly after Adeniyi had his dinner.

It was further learnt that one of Adeniyi’s children was set to marry a month before the tragic incident happened.

His body has been recovered from the well and has since been deposited at a morgue.

Though the reasons behind the tragic act are yet to be determined, a source disclosed that Adeniyi had a history of mental health struggles, although the specific nature of his condition remains undisclosed.

Head of Public Relations and Communication Unit at FMC Abeokuta, Segun Orisajo, confirmed the incident and expressed the hospital management’s deep sorrow.

Orisajo stated, “It is true that he committed suicide. It was an unfortunate incident. The management feels saddened about this development.”

He described the late Adeniyi as a hardworking and loyal staff member whose sudden death came as a shock to everyone at the hospital.

“The unfortunate incident caught the entire management off guard. It is quite an irreparable loss.

“The management extends its heartfelt condolences to the department, as well as to the immediate and extended family members of the deceased,” Orisajo added.

Efforts to get a reaction from the spokesperson of Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, proved abortive.
