Total Blackout In Abuja, Abia, Imo, Others As National Grid Collapses

Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC has confirmed power outage in Abuja due to collapse of national grid.

AEDC in a statement on its Twitter page blamed the power outages in parts of FCT on the grid collapse.

It electricity company said the situation was being handled and that power would be restored in the shortest possible time.

A statement from the AEDC read; ”Dear Esteemed Customer, Please be informed that the current power outage is due to a system failure from the National Grid.

”The system collapsed at about 10:55am today, 26th September 2022, causing the outage currently being experienced.

”We appeal for your understanding as all stakeholders are working hard to restore normal supply.”

Meanwhile, parts of South East Nigeria were also affected in the power outage crippling commercial and social activities in the West African country with an estimated population of 200 million.

In a notice to its customers, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC, EEDC, informed its “esteemed customers of a system collapse which occurred at 10:51am today, 26th September, 2022. This has resulted in the loss of supply currently being experienced across the network.

“Due to this development, all our interface TCN stations are out of supply, and we are unable to provide service to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.

“We are on standby awaiting detailed information of the collapse and restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo”, the statement by Emeka Ezeh, Head, Corporate Communications, stated.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, which manages the grid was yet to comment on the development.
